Pay off the DEBT

 

Andrew Jackson is best remembered as the face on the 20 dollar bill.  Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States.  He was also the ONLY president to ever pay off the National debt !  Who will be the next president ?

 

What is your National Debt ? and are you working to pay it off ?

You might say...... I have a savings account---- or I have a 401K or IRA. 

 

Can you really SAVE your way to wealth ?  You might be able to save your way to a comfortable retirement......but wealth ?

a Lesson from the Super Bowl

All eyes of america were watching Sunday--- It was a great football game..... did anybody get the important lesson from that game ???

 

Never and I mean NEVER--- would a football coach--- where his team is only down by 4 points at the half...... Have his team attempt an "On-side" kick to start the second half !!!!!

 

This proved that the coach was "THINKING OUT OF THE BOX" !!!!

 

The coach weighed the "Risk vs. Reward" and decided to step out of the box and call a play that shocked everybody.  He then succeeded and went on to create the momentum needed to win the Super Bowl !

 

Are you out of the Box ?  Ask yourself these questions:

The Changing Business Environment

Winston Churchill once said, 'The future is one damn thing after another.' And so it is when it comes to the business environment.. The current environment has never been more volatile. Currencies, customers, and competitors all seem to change directions on a daily basis. Coupled with concerns over rising government deficits, rapidly expanding trade imbalances with China, new competitors and changing technology, forecasting the future has never been more challenging .

We are currently facing a crisis unlike anything we've experienced before. It doesn't matter whether you look at the financial markets, the housing market, or emplyment, the story is the same. WE'RE IN A RECESSION!

SMART Businesses are looking at our current situation and making changes !  Years ago….. phonograph record and tape companies, looked at the advancing technologies and started changing their manufacturing processes.  Some of those companies, refused to think that the “Expensive” CD disk would ever replace the record……those companies did not survive. (CD's eventually became affordable).

Cheryl and I…..(my other half) are what I call “MovieHolics”.  We love watching movies.  Over the years, we have always been a member of the BXXXXbuster store.  Over the last year….. a company called “RedXXX” came up with a new concept:  An unmanned CD Video rental Machine !  They sent out millions of emails for FREE rentals of movies……they got our attention !  With the RED company, you are able to rent a NEW RELEASE movie for only $1 (instead of the 2 – 5 dollars).  To say the least…..we no longer rent from BXXXXBuster.  We still had to drive to a location….to pick up movies…..but much cheaper than we were paying.

RedXXX was able to see…..that by removing the BIG STORE presence…..removing the store employees…. They could lower the rental charge for movies !

Can all businesses do this ?   NO…. Some businesses will always need a “Store Front” presence.  Maybe like: Cleaners, restaurants, Salons….

Business MUST, in these times….. find ways to become “SLIMMER” and still provide what their clients want.

As a “MOVIE HOLIC”, we want to watch movies.  Now, another company has the vision to take it one step further.  NETXXX, for a flat $8.99 a month…. Will let you immediately “stream” unlimited movies directly to your computer.  Most newer TVs have a VGA computer input… or you can watch directly on your computer.  This does have some limitations….. not ALL new releases are streaming yet.  However, I see this as a trend for these type of companies.  I think in the future--- we will see the “Retail Storefront” video stores start to disappear.  Video rentals will go all ONLINE.

This past week, I was talking to one of my business associates.  He works a full time job, but also does part time consulting.   He says this is another income stream----he is correct…BUT--- it’s really another JOB---trading time for money.  If he does not show up or provide the work-----he does not get paid.  A better income stream…would be a business that he builds, that produces a residual income.  An income that he can continue to work and increase.  An  income that will continue to produce…..when we all go to Hawaii for 2 or 3 weeks !

Have you looked at building additional streams of income ?  Yes, Real Estate Investing is a way that myself and other of our members are building wealth.  Our MAIN Team Leader (Don Storms) used his other streams of incomes---- to fund his Real Estate Investments !  Don has been SUPER SUCCESSFUL with this strategy and I feel very fortunate to be associated and working with him on building my income stream.

Unemployment still a Concern

Despite recent improvements to statistics, unemployment is still a real concern. Last year, Dennis Blair, the United States director of national intelligence told congress the following:

"Nearly everybody has been caught by surprise at the speed in which unemployment is increasing ..."

We are still over a 10-percent unemployment mark. Layoff announcements were fast and furious almost all last year ...

Circuit City:   30,000
Citygroup:   52,000
Pfizer: 19,500
Sprint Nextel:  8,000
Caterpiller:     20,000

The list could go on and on, the point being that your job is NOT secure.  If you do lose your job because of the recession, you'll find yourself in a nightmare trying to find a new job. The conditions for finding a new job are terrible.

You must do something now to combat this vicious cycle. You must eliminate
any and all dependency on your job for income. Be proactive. Don't wait for
this ugly unemployment situation to fix itself. It will get worse before it gets better.

One of the best options is to launching your own "side" business from home to begin earning income outside of your job. Believe it or not, some small businesses flourish in adverse economic conditions. Your new "side" business could be one of them!

New Years Resolution - only at Number 7

About.com just listed the TOP 10 New Years Resolutions.  Coming in at number 7 was "Get out of Debt" !  I personally think it should have been at number 1.

Here is the entire list:
1. Spend More Time with Family & Friends
2. Fit in Fitness
3. Tame the Bulge
4. Quit Smoking
5. Enjoy Life More
6. Quit Drinking
7. Get Out of Debt
8. Learn Something New
9. Help Others
10. Get Organized

If you look at the list.... 4 of the items on the list could pertain to HEALTH.
Four other items could pertain to money or wealth.
   Spend more time with family & friends.... if you didnt have to work so hard
   Enjoy Life More... if you didnt have to work so hard
   Get out of Debt... 
   Help Others... would be easier if you were wealthy

"Get out of Debt" should really be "I'm going to double my income this year"

1.    Step 1

As soon as you hear those excuse tapes playing in your head, shut them down and throw them out with the trash.  Get rid of the negative !!

6.    Step 6

If you do have a moment of weakness and slip up a bit, that's okay, you are human. Forgive yourself, and the very next day, work twice as hard on your goal, strengthening your resolve even more.

7.    Step 7 

Have faith in yourself. You can do anything if you set your mind on that goal. Remember that it is never too late to become what you might have been.

 Dr. Art Bowler (on ehow.com) has a video, that he explains "How to keep your New Year's Resolution" http://www.ehow.com/video_4979837_make-new-years-resolution-keep.html   Basically, he says to "Make your Goals Reasonable".... I say BULL !

Should you set your goal to make an extra $100 a month ??  Or set your goal to "Make an extra $1,000 dollars a week" ?  I think that an extra 1000 dollars a week could change your family's Lifestyle.

My personal goal is to Make an extra $50,000 dollars this year !  That equates to about 1,000 dollars a week. 

I already have my plan of action. 

I visualize the result and council with people that are already doing what I wish to accomplish.

Did anybody expect this ?

The National Association of Realtors yesterday released statistics for sales of existing homes in October, and, holy cow, the numbers are incredible.

Sales spiked more than 10 percent from September and more than 23 percent from October of last year. With 6.1 million units sold, October was the highest month for sales since February of 2007, nearly three years ago.

According to Thompson Reuters, ecomists expected only 5.65 million units to sell. So sales beat the forecast by nearly a half-a-million homes.

The obvious factor in the big jump is the federal government's first-time home buyer tax credit, which was orginally set to expire at the end of November. In October, nobody really knew if it was going to be extended (it eventually was, to June of next year).

NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun, no stranger to optimism when it comes to the housing market, was surprised at October's numbers.

“Many buyers have been rushing to beat the deadline for the first-time buyer tax credit that was scheduled to expire at the end of this month, and similarly robust sales may be occurring in November,” he said in a statement released by the NAR. “With such a sale spike, a measurable decline should be anticipated in December and early next year before another surge in spring and early summer.”

But you have to think that the tax credit isn't the only reason houses are selling again. Interest rates are really, really low, and home prices in many areas continue to fall. So home ownership is more affordable, whether you get the government's tax credit or not.

So while Yun's suggestion that there will be a kind of "winter break" in home sales is probably correct, it might not be a great idea to hibernate all winter. The government will eventually stop propping up the housing market, which will not only mean the end of the tax credits but also the downward pressure on interest rates for home loans. Some experts predict this could occur as early as next spring.

Also keep prices in mind if you're considering a home purchase, either as your primary residence or as an investment. October's big month pushed the national inventory of homes on the market down to seven months' worth -- not nearly as big a stock of homes as were on the market just six months earlier.

And though the national median price dropped again in October -- to $173,100 -- the rate at which prices is falling continues to decline. With a shrinking inventory and theoretically more buyers in the market come next spring, prices could start to rise.

“With the abnormal drop in home prices over the past few years, the price-to-income ratio has fallen below the historic trend line,” Yun said in the NAR release. “This is adding to the buying power of the typical family, with affordability conditions this year at the highest on record dating back to 1970, but prices are beginning to flatten and are poised to rise next year.”

In other words, it won't pay to wait.
